Taking it outside: from spectator to partaker

Alessandro Sciarroni

Alessandro Sciarroni is an Italian artist active in the field of Performing Arts with several years of experience in visual arts and theater research. In 2019 he was awarded the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement in Dance by the Venice Biennale. His works have been performed worldwide, in events such as the Biennale de la Danse in Lyon, Kunstenfestivaldesarts in Brussels, the Venice Biennale, the Festival d’Automne in Paris, among others, and he exhibited his work at the Centre Pompidou in Paris, The Walker Art Center Minneapolis, Punta della Dogana-Palazzo Grassi in Venice and the MAXXI Museum in Rome. Alessandro Sciarroni is associated artist at CENTQUATRE-Paris and is supported as focus-artist by apap – Performing Europe 2020. His shows are produced by Marche Teatro in collaboration with various national and international coproduction partners, such as Centrale Fies, La Biennale di Venezia, Fondation d’entreprise Hermès in the frame of New Settings.

Gustavo Vicente

Gustavo Vicente worked with theatre directors Gonçalo Amorim, Susana Vidal, João Garcia Miguel, Miguel Moreira and Joana Craveiro, and he participated in several artistic creation and training processes with as many distinguished professionals, such as João Brites, André Lepecki, Vera Mantero and Stefan Kaegi. He regularly works with Teatro do Vestido since 2012.

Rui Pina Coelho

NA PRÁTICA is a summer school in the field of the performing arts, aimed at artists and researchers, co-organized by Materiais Diversos and by the Centro de Estudos de Teatro (FLUL). During the 10th edition of the Festival Materiais Diversos, Na Prática intends to form a temporary community which will inhabit the festival and its spaces throughout the nine days, around the political dimension of being a spectator and the work of Alessandro Sciarroni, Italian creator who will present one of his most recent works, Don’t be Frightened of Turning the Page.
